Textual Analysis

Hey there! So I decided to analyse a short clip from the movie 'Fast Five'. Fast Five is the fifth instalment in the Fast and the Furious film series.

There are many genres in this movie, these are:
  • action
  • thriller
  • crime fiction

This clip of a fighting scene implies that the movie consists of action. In addition, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team plan a heist to steal $100 million, but Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is determined to hunt down and capture Dominic and his team. This shows how elements of crime are involved.
Although previous films in the series are labelled as 'pure car culture movies', this particular film uses less street-racing and more action (gun fights and brawls).

The film is targeted at mostly young adults. Overall, I think that the target audience is between the age range of 14-30 years (70% males and 30% females.).

Hi my name is Harmony and I am currently in year 10 going into year 11. I've just finished studying Business Studies and Spanish for GCSE and now I’m doing Media Studies (along with History) for my year 11 options. I decided to choose Media Studies because it’s a very highly recommended subject by loads of people who've completed the subject this year and it seems very creative and fun. I love listening to music and in my free time I read the news online from websites such as: Daily Mail, The Sun and Vibe Magazine. I prefer reading articles online because it’s easy to access and it guarantees to give you new and updated news. The main genres that I associate with on a day-to-day basis are R‘n’B and Hip Hop; this is from both music and reading online articles. Also, I enjoy watching movies. My favourite genres are: action, horror and comedy. The most recent film I watched was ‘Fast and Furious 6’ at the cinema a few weeks ago. It was a very good movie with a very interesting storyline!
