Target Audience Profile

Typography

On Photoshop I done some work on typography which involves words with a graphical identity.

For the word 'RADIATION' I have used a fuzzy-type font and I've placed three strokes of fire on the letter 'T'. These are used to enforce the word radiation.

For the word 'EMPEROR' I have used a purple colour for the font as the colour purple means royalty and wealth. I have also placed a crown image on top of the word to show how emperors are royal.

Photo Story

Wide Shot (WS)
This shot is showing how a victim of bullying is dead. The scene is set in a high school
as the students are wearing uniform. It also establishes the scene. The shots go back in time.

Long Shot (LS)
The long shot shows the audience how the victim of bullying proceeded to commit suicide by jumping down from the second floor to the ground floor. Time is reversed and showing
how the victim of bullying prepared for his dreadful death.

Close-Up (CU)
The close-up displays the character's emotions. It also shows how the character is upset.

Big Close-Up (BCU)
The tears show the strong emotion and makes the audience
feel sad.

Medium Shot/Low Angle
This shot emphasises how the victim is powerless compared to the bullies. The victim is also helpless.

Over-The-Shoulder (OTS)
This shot was used to show how the bullies are superior against the victim.

Fruit Bowl

The theme for my fruit bowl is 'fruity'. I have used a range of colours to present the idea of fresh-looking and sweet fruit.

In have selcted a bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, dark purple and a dull purple for my colour palette for the fruit. I used a range of colours to show contrast. The background is a peachy colour (as that is an attractive colour) and the yellow is also used in the background to represent light. Then for the table colour I decided to use a light brown as this colour compliments to pink/red fruit bowl.

Analysis of video game

Language -
The cover of the game presents a few football players, so this suggests that this game is aimed at people who are competitive and have a strong passion for football. The developer of the game 'EA Sports' is on all of the copies of the game. The advert also shows how all the different platforms are printed on the front covers of the game; this emphasises how the game is aimed at a wide audience who use a different range of platforms.

Institution  -
The developer of this game: EA Canada
The publisher: Electronic Arts
The game is available on multiple platforms such as: Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2&3, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, Wii, Wii U, iOS and Windows Phone 8.

Audience -
In my opinion, I think that this game is mainly targeted at males (aged 9 - 25) with 80% boys and 20% girls.

Representation -
The background image is a stadium filled with loads of people (football fans), so this implies that the game is set in a stadium. In general, football matches are set in stadiums.

^ Iron Man star 'Robert Downey Jr' is among the cast of the advert to promote 'Black Ops II'.

Promotion-
Billboards, tv ads (commercials), newspaper + magazine ads, Facebook page, Twitter (#hashtags) - "#BlackOps2", Twitter page, online blogs, advertisements on YouTube, subscribing to the Black Ops II website and game websites. -these are the ways to promote 'Black Ops II'. The game is also advertising on billboards, underground stations and buses.

In my opinion, I think the target audience for this game is aimed mostly at boys (80% boys and 20% girls) aged 11 to 19.
Activision believes 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II' day-one shipments were the largest for any game ever.
2.5 million people queued at 16,000 shops at midnight (USP) to buy the game, "making it the largest retail release in Activision's history and in the industry's history". The game grossed over $500 million, in the US alone in its first 24 hours, making it the biggest entertainment launch of all time. It was the fourth year in a row that the Call of Duty series had broken that same record. Black Ops II went on to gross $1 billion in the first 15 days of availability, beating Modern Warfare 3's record of the first 16 days.

'Call of Duty: Ghosts' will be the tenth main instalment in the series.

Advertising Campaign

'Marketing and Promotion of Videogames' - Hunger Games: Training

The role I played was the 'Creative Director'.

The campaign look and feel is: competitive, fun and intense. It will boost and improve fitness and mental strength.

The campaign slogan is: "May the odds ever be in your favor..."

As a group we decided viral marketing would be the best option to promote the game. This involves: Twitter (#hashtags), Instagram (instavid preview), Facebook page and subscribing the 'Hunger Games' website.

Celebrity endorsement-
Characters from the 'Hunger Games' movie - Katniss, Peeta, Gale and Haymitch.

USP -
Midnight release with a meet and greet with the cast from 'Hunger Games'.

PR -
Launch events (film premieres) - this will generate reviews and reports online, in newspapers and magazines.
Interviews with members (the cast and crew) who are involved in the making of the videogame.

HSBC AD

The words: Control, Success and Power emphasise how money impacts on someone's everyday life. Money can control a person by their spending habits. Money can give someone success because it highlights how a person has worked hard over time in order to be where they want to be. Finally, money can give someone power because having loads of money gives a person a higher status.

Textual Analysis

Hey there! So I decided to analyse a short clip from the movie 'Fast Five'. Fast Five is the fifth instalment in the Fast and the Furious film series.

There are many genres in this movie, these are:
  • action
  • thriller
  • crime fiction

This clip of a fighting scene implies that the movie consists of action. In addition, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his team plan a heist to steal $100 million, but Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) is determined to hunt down and capture Dominic and his team. This shows how elements of crime are involved.
Although previous films in the series are labelled as 'pure car culture movies', this particular film uses less street-racing and more action (gun fights and brawls).

The film is targeted at mostly young adults. Overall, I think that the target audience is between the age range of 14-30 years (70% males and 30% females.).

harmony_media

Hi my name is Harmony and I am currently in year 10 going into year 11. I've just finished studying Business Studies and Spanish for GCSE and now I’m doing Media Studies (along with History) for my year 11 options. I decided to choose Media Studies because it’s a very highly recommended subject by loads of people who've completed the subject this year and it seems very creative and fun. I love listening to music and in my free time I read the news online from websites such as: Daily Mail, The Sun and Vibe Magazine. I prefer reading articles online because it’s easy to access and it guarantees to give you new and updated news. The main genres that I associate with on a day-to-day basis are R‘n’B and Hip Hop; this is from both music and reading online articles. Also, I enjoy watching movies. My favourite genres are: action, horror and comedy. The most recent film I watched was ‘Fast and Furious 6’ at the cinema a few weeks ago. It was a very good movie with a very interesting storyline!
